American Consumer Opinion

American Consumer Opinion is an online survey company that offers those who join a chance to win a cash drawing for completing quick, fun surveys. American Consumer Opinion is a subsidiary company for Decision Analysis Inc., a Dallas based marketing research company. They do research for a variety of corporations around the world, including fast food chains, railroad corporations and airlines. They also offer actual cash ($4 to $50) rewards for completing more extensive, in depth surveys that they call "focus groups." The site specifically states that focus group participants generally do not make less than $50.

Joining American Consumer Opinion is easy. Simply go to www.acop.com where you can sign up for the site. After completing the site questions, a confirmation email will be sent to your e-mail address under the name of "Ann Parks." Clicking the confirmation link signs you up. Be sure to white list "Ann Parks" in your inbox white list so the email doesn't disappear in your bulk folder.

American Consumer Opinion has been an online presence for about 10 years. Although a legitimate site, it does not offer a lot of money. Several pros and cons to joining American Consumer Opinions need to be considered :

Pros :

-Living in the United States is not a requirement to participate in these surveys. There is no age limit, but many of the surveys relate to work and adult-oriented activities. Teenagers can participate, but will find the questions boring.

- ACO will provide you with a steady flow of both short surveys and longer questionnaires.

- The company keeps your information private-they will never try to sell you anything. There is no need to worry about spam in your mailbox or ACO telephoning you.

- ACO has been around a long time, and is well respected in the online community.

Cons:

- There is no guarantee of making any money for completing the short surveys. There is only an opportunity to win cash in their monthly drawing. One person wins a month and receives $250 for their participation.

- The site does not pay you cash for participating in a lengthy surveys. Instead the company requesting the information sends you a check. It's normal to wait four to six weeks for a $4 check.

- You don't have a choice in which surveys you want to complete. The site sends them by e-mail.

- At times, the site goes "down" in the middle of your survey. This will mean you have to begin the process all over again. American Consumers Opinion will tell you that the site is experiencing "too much traffic." This can be frustrating - time equals money in the online survey game.

The best way to make money with this site is to become an affiliate of the company. You fill out a form by e-mail and are a banner or link to post on your website. The company pays 50 cents for every person who joins them through clicking the banner or link on you survey portal.

This is a good way to make a few extra dollars as the amount paid to affiliates is considerable as compared to other companies that offer the same thing. The person has to sign up to join the site, not simply click on the ad. Once you have reached a threshold of $5 in affiliate fees, the company sends you a check on a monthly basis.

On a scale of one to ten, this site rates a five. It's not a big money maker, but it is totally legitimate. They respect your privacy and, using the affiliate program, is an easy way to make a few extra dollars online.
